"I don't feel like I have any competitive advantage in large cap stocks."

a competitive advantage to who?

"I have had several situations in microcap stocks where I did have an understanding that wasn't reflected accurately in the market, and I made a ton of money. There have been a couple where there was something I was missing and I took my lumps, but overall the endeavor has been very successful."

risk/ reward goes hand in hand. less coverage may mean more risk. The idea that you feel youve made out just means expected return versus the risk you took is ok. So who were you competing with?

"but I don't pretend that my largecap picks will do any better than the overall market."

If your expected return = the market, why not just own the market instead of "value equities"?

Not sure why I really butted in. Good ideas are good ideas whether followed by 100 analysts or none. Analysts really cant compete with your time horizon. Think how much money youd make, even versus your high risk stuff, if 100 analyst disagreed with you and you were right?
