Unemployment insurance does serve a useful purpose for those who genuinely need it. Couldn't agree more. I consider it an essential element in the safety net. But as with every program, there are implications. Ignoring or denying the implications is neither constructive nor apt. Re the question of half not paying federal income taxes, I'm not posting the blog post, just the title. I hadn't seen this label used before but I find it apt. I think I'll adopt it.
