We keep going over the same ground. I don't give a damn if you knock the GOP. I have no vested interest. I am not a Republican. I rarely vote Republican. I think they suck. So do the Democrats. The notion that one is somehow more noble than the other, less hateful, smarter, or anything else is risible. Spending a lot of time ascertaining which of them stinks the worst is a waste. They both stink. It doesn't matter what Cheney did. Dwelling on it, and particularly harping on it, doesn't get us anywhere. At best it's a distraction. What matters is what we do or don't do going forward. (In management studies, we don't place blame. We report what happened in a detached way, then recommend how to get out of the mess. Fussing about who did what to whom is a non-constructive distraction.)My biggest issue is oil independence. Why is that your biggest issue? What makes it so important? (My biggest issue is the deficit/debt, FWIW. I think that's byfar the biggest threat to the continued success of the US. (My second biggest issue is threats to personal liberty. That's more personal. For the rest of what life I have left, I don't want to have to deal with crap about either the Ten Commandments in the courtroom (from the GOP) or nanny restrictions on fatty foods. (from the D's))) Ultimately, oil independence will come from using less and creating substitutes. I don't have any problem with that. I have an problem with hiding whatever ideas you may have amongst the partisan hostility. Reduce the noise level and the demonization and your points get through better. They don't want our government to pick and choose the marketplace winners. Well, my gosh, then let's stop giving the oil and gas industry 80-88% of all federal energy tax incentives. How about stopping all the subsidies/incentives?
