I think "do nothing" gets an undeserved bad rap. Not that its always the right thing to do or even close, but some people seem to have the attitude that

Something must be done
This is something,
Therefore This must be done.

For just about any "This", except ideas they positively hate.

OK, I'm probably exaggerating a bit, but there is a real bias to falsely assume that action is always better than inaction, and to falsely assume that doing something has to involved government action, and almost always an increase in government action and control.
