Pete, I hear you on judging trends correctly, but on the flip side you could have bought very high quality techs with exceptional balance sheets that are growing nicely a decade ago (Cisco and innumerable others) gone to sleep, and awoke today saying 'why am I down 60%'??? When I was younger and dumber I got burned on a few of the 'they will come back' themes. Since becoming an active trader I've done just fine. As you say though, it takes way more effort and stress.
