Its Springtime in the US of A. Mortgage Applications Jump 13.6% in Apr. 16 Week 4/21/2010 9:17 AM EDT The Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) said the Market Composite Index of its Weekly Applications Survey, a measure of mortgage loan application volume, increased 13.6% on a seasonally adjusted basis in the week to Apr. 16 from a week earlier. On an unadjusted basis, the Index increased 13.9% from the previous week. The Refinance Index increased 15.8% from the previous week and the seasonally adjusted Purchase Index increased 10.1%% from a week earlier. The unadjusted Purchase Index increased 11.0% compared with the previous week and was 5.2% lower than the same week a year ago.
