Those controlling the Tea Party movement, like Dick Armey, are not working-class.

But the demographic of the foot soldiers who attend the rallies are mostly lower income people who are retired, unemployed, or working people under financial stress.

People like the classic "Joe the Plumber" who was actually an unlicensed handyman who earned $40,000, with a lien for unpaid back-taxes.
