Ok -- I did not see any happy faces in your post so I will take you at you word that yours is a dark view of human kind -- and i can understand why you see it that way. As Kurt V. once said, "given the experience of the past ten thousand years, what can a thoughtful person expect for the future -- answer: not much". I have young children -- they are kind, thoughtful, aware, and I want very badly to believe that they will find some way to be better, live in a better way, and be part of making things better that will matter -- the alternative is crushing to me. But I do not discount the inexorable drift toward something cruder in mankind -- something not quite evil, but not far from it all too often. A self-centeredness that does not admit to their being anything to the notion of humanity itself -- and therefore nothing to work on except being better able to use whatever weapons are available to you in an each against all fight for survival at its most base level.
