I thought our troops in the region represent great leverage, a projection of power. Instead, some in our leadership choose to see them as hostages.

I suppose it's all in the eye of the beholder.

The Iranians are killing our troops. We can either kill them, ignore them, or negotiate with them. The Bush Admin chose to ignore them, and Obama is trying to negotiate.
