When quantitative managers get the wrong numbers: news.morningstar.com This is quite a scandal. Barr Rosenberg was a professor at U.C. Berkeley Biz School and had a reputation as big as the great outdoors, and an ego to match. That they didn't report the error on time may be criminal.

My worry about quant funds has always been that the numbers are nonsense and don't help you make money. I never worried that the geeks would actually get the numbers wrong, even if it was due to coding instead of the basic arithmetic. Yeah, that's what investors need. More to worry about. <G>
