The best statistical predictor of a Bush Jr. electoral supporter was simply whether or not you hold a passport -- his base was heavy with people who had little or no experience outside of the US, and fearful of 'aliens'. It was the message of his 'axis of evil' appeal to his base. It is no small wonder that some people do their best to portray Obama as some sort of 'alien' to be feared -- a foreigner, and a black Muslim who no doubt is a puppet of some sort of devil worshipping global conspiracy to destroy the US. That makes perfect sense. The possibility that he is a really smart guy who worked his ass off and went to good schools because of his ability -- as distinct from his daddy pulling strings -- seems remote to those whose lives are filled with alien monsters in their minds.
