"What's so "progressive" about killing everyone who disagrees with you" Nothing at all. But that wasn't the claim. Ignoring your non sequitur, it can be noted in a rational vein that the French Revolution indeed had its excesses--as ALL revolutions do. But it exchanged human slavery and duty to a tyrant church for human rights and freedoms. To put it another way, it allowed human beings to walk erect and to be treated as somewhat other than subservient animals caged physically and intellectually by a one-eyed cyclops. And this is no small better--certainly nothing to be sneered at...
