That is why you were defending the Fulda Gap. Hey, I did my best! You will notice that no Soviets came though the gap while I was there. ..:>) Air cover over Hungary would have freed the country, IMO. But, we will never know. I do know that Korea and Vietnam could have been avoided. In Korea, Stalin would have cut and run if Truman had told them we would Nuke NK if they didn't pull out. Telling North Vietnam to stay out of the south or we would mine the harbor and take out their electric plants would have stopped them cold. China? We didn't realize the centuries-old hatred between China and Vietnam.
