Joe’s Wild About Harry.

by Kevin

Banish all doubts: Senator Joseph Lieberman is still a Democrat. He’s sponsoring an expensive fundraiser for embattled Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in tony Greenwich, Connecticut. The ducats begin at $1,000 a person and rise to $4,800. Checks will be made out to Friends for Harry Reid. Voters fitting that description are thin on the ground in the Nevada Democrat’s home state. He’s facing a Dodd-like deficit in polls.

The May 2nd event will take place at the home of venture capitalist Dan Ciporin and Jill Ciporin. Mr. Ciporin donated to both John McCain and Barack Obama in the 2008 campaign cycle, so he’s an appropriate host for an event sponsored by Lieberman. The four-term veteran must be angling for something from Reid. Lieberman could be continuing to repair ties with Democrats after his December vote for the Democrats’ health care bill inflicted irreparable damage to his support among Connecticut Republicans, who rescued Lieberman’s 2006 independent bid for re-election.
