Happy spread can be made easily with leaves of your favorite plant. Just boil some leaves in water, and add a couple pounds of butter. The fat soluble active component is solubilized in the butter fat. Pour the brew through a strainer into another pan (eliminating the leaves), then after it cools to room temperature put it in the fridge. Skim the top layer off and you have "herb butter."

I've never actually done it, but some friends of mine did in high school - they had quite a party with a keg and some addictively tasty buttered English muffins.
