a play by George Bernard Shaw

Who was a dedicated Socialist with some pretty bizarre ideas. Here's one of his quotes:

"You must all know half a dozen people at least who are no use in this world, who are more trouble than they are worth. Just put them there and say Sir, or Madam, now will you be kind enough to justify your existence? If you can’t justify your existence, if you’re not pulling your weight in the social boat, if you’re not producing as much as you consume or perhaps a little more, then, clearly, we cannot use the organizations of our society for the purpose of keeping you alive, because your life does not benefit us and it can’t be of very much use to yourself."

He advocated inventing a "humane" type of gas to get rid of people so they wouldn't suffer.

<I watched a movie called Major Barbara the other night. It is based on a play by George Bernard Shaw.

Thanks mph, I had no idea that was ever made into a movie. GBS was not only a great playwright, he is the only one I ever read for enjoyment.

Looked up the Major Barbara play and the 1941 movie...GBS was a socialist, but I wonder just what he would have thought of Barak Obama and some of the "helpers aka Czars" and others he has surrounded himself with....

Major Barbara looks like a good movie to see...certainly better than most today, from the looks of things.

Re Adam Kokesh....My husband has a saying he's quite fond of..and it certainly fits here "Ignorance of their ignorance is the malady of the ignorant"....

Check out his website, and you'll see what I mean. NO WHERE could I see why he is so "anti-war" and why he pals around with ANSWER and Code Pink, etc....If he really had some grounded reasons, other than political, one would think he would have mentioned them on his own website....
