we know that amd has yeild problems.
but, they have gone from 370k k6's to 1 mm k6's to I think 1.8 to 2 mmm k6's this qtr..and they are sold out.
if the next qtr amd can yeild 3mm k6's then it's cooking.
the issue has never been demand ..it's yeild only and can they get the k7 going soon enough.
the industry has actually helped amd out by not obsoletely the classic p166 and p200's. this has allow amd not to have to move fast but has hurt profit.
Of course intc's profit is hurt too.
the indsutry is better with a strong amd and cyrx and intel.
I'm in austin and I've heard of no environmental issues.
it's all realted to yeilds.
I got a report yesterday that said they were back going again.
next 8 weeks is critcal..they need 1.8 to 2mm k6's this qtr.
even if amd lives off 2nd and 3rd tier mfg'ers they will sell all they make.
