The history of civilizations coming in contact has always resulted in sadness for the one that is technologically inferior. Take the Maori in New Zealand. Despite a rocky start, the Kiwis have tried to be respectful of the Maori and keep their culture from overwhelming the Maori. Yet, the Maori have a lot in common with every other native ethnic group around the world with drug abuse, high crime, high unemployment, domestic abuse, etc. Did I tell you that Hawking gave a talk at A&M recently?
