That some early Christians, including prominent ones, owned slaves doesn't take away the fact that Christianity did ultimately end slavery in Christian lands. Even when they allowed it in European overseas colonies, they didn't allow it in their home countries and they ultimately outlawed in their colonies as well.

I don't think you can blame the Greeks for Jesus supporting slavery ....

Its your surmise that he did so.

The abolitionists won largely because slavery was no longer financially viable.

Thats absolutely not true. It was quite profitable in most places. Southern cities in the US had the largest populations of very wealthy men and slave prices had been rising for some decades prior to the Civil War.
