Its a fairly good size reasonably diverse* movement that is more popular (and for good or ill more populist) than either of the two political parties. It has nothing to do with Obama's race, if Hillary had won and acted in a similar way the movement would be just as strong. ---- * It is close to matching the demographics of the country as a whole except its slightly more educated than average, more conservative, and only has about half as many black people as the general population, about 6 percent vs 12 percent.
