A Violent Demonstration

By John
Power Line

Violence broke out at a political demonstration over the weekend, as protesters chased police officers, pelting them with rocks and bottles. Was this a gang of Tea Partiers running amok, as eagerly awaited by so many liberals? Well, no. The demonstration was at the state capitol in Arizona, against that state's new immigration statute:

Mexicans Riot in Wake of Arizona Illegal Alien Crackdown

Have you seen a lot of consternation in the press about this violent demonstration? No, neither have I. Maybe that's because reporters think the Arizona law is polarizing.

But, since it is illegal, there is a good chance that your lawyer can get thrown out the fruit of the poison tree. If it's legal to violate your rights, only The Supreme Court can help you, and they are right wing to the core, right now.

BC,

When you create a police force, you are doing so to avoid a downside that is far greater than having one. Otherwise it would be dismantled.

There will always be a minority of police that will over reach and do illegal searches and be involved in other criminal activity etc... However, even in many of those cases, they are bending and breaking laws because they know they are right and are actually trying to do "good" (however misguided). It's not like there are millions of racist cops and brown shirts out there abusing everyone.

Obviously the idea is to limit that kind of thing, but you don't refrain from trying to limit large amounts of criminal activity because a very small percentage of cops are also criminals.

That would be sort of like not fighting the Japanese in WW2 because some of our soldiers might rape an innocent Japanese village girl. Horribly, that happens too. But you still have to fight the war.

There are millions of illegal aliens here. By definition they are criminals. But to make matters worse, legal Americans have depressed salaries, are paying for the social safety net they have access to either legally or illegally (and there's plenty of that going on too), facing extra crime, and risking terrorist activity etc...

It's not out of line to try to reduce the incentives for them to come here and to deport them when we find them no matter what their skin color, race, religion or ethic background etc....

The potential actions of some police are a problem, but they are the least of the problem.

I expanded on what should be done also (making it a felony to hire them), but we can't get there because the right wants cheap labor. But just because we can't do that yet does not mean we have to turn this into a racist issue and accomplish nothing because the left wants more voters and unions members.

IMO they are disgusting scumbags.
