i spent hours listening to the testimony before congress so far and I just added to my small GS position. The senators asking the questions come across as having formed their own conclusions as to whats appropriate without understanding the role of a market maker or how they can reduce their risks in general. While one can argue whether knowing that a deal was set up by a short seller or not is material information, there is also a question of whether a seller should be disclosed in every transaction. as I said before when i buy stock I dont know who the seller is.
