So show me proof where were the public officials saving us from Depression were 'crooks that participated in the looting'.

Fannie/Freddie, the bankers, wall street, realtors, mortgage brokers, speculators, the public who felt entitled, congress, repeal of Glass Stegal and especially regulators on both the federal and state level at fault for causing the mess in 2003-06...you are speaking to the choir here as I was on this board for many years with you on all this stuff.

Now you're confusing me. -g-

John, Anna Schwartz said the Fed should have saved the banking system not the banks. I don't think the management who helped to create the crisis should continue to run the banks which received TARP money.

I probably would have taken over the banks, run them and broken them up if they were too big to fail. Preserving the banking system. The perpetrators would have been prosecuted and if guilty banned for life from the financial industry.

I'd have gone for clawback for guys like Raines and Gorelick. Firings at the SEC would be coupled with stipping of Pensions.

As for GM and Chrysler I'd have made the unions make more major concessions as well. Shareholders and bondholders would have first shot st the IPO of news shares.
