"...Jeff Replies [to Mish]...IBM isn’t saying they’re going to engage in some new fangled business process to save cost, they’re just laying people off and hiring them back sans benefits. Crowdsourcing is the smoke and mirrors, and you, as an analyst-slash-journalist, fell for the con..."

jeff's comment reminds me of how the private sector blew itself up through "efficiency" measures.
let's see there was:

Kiss My A$$! (so you can get a raise),
Work Harder!(so you can keep your job),
Screw Other Employees!(so you can keep your benefits),
Multitask 2 Jobs At Once! (so you don't get your hours cut), Train The Outsource-worker! (so you get a few more weeks of pay),
Layoff! (so you can get unemployment),
and for the lucky old guys/gals there is that brilliant private sector business tactic called...
Early Retirement! (so you can live in squalor).

market fundamentalism has failed. It's time we look to the scandinavian countries for a better economic model and way of life.
