Oh, I don't know about that, history has shown that supra-national currencies can be quite effective, e.g., Spanish pieces of eight, gold sovereigns, etc.

But they are generally backed by gold or silver or are in fact gold or silver.

If the Euro were the currency of an entity that grew organically because of common interest, a common history, or something else that united nations as disparate as Germany and Greece, it might have had a chance. But it is an artificial entity, made up of whole cloth.

Euro will be a historical relic within 18 months, perhaps sooner.

Another fiat currency will bite the dust, as they all inevitably do.
