Environmental groups celebrating a major oil spill? C'mon! This is the nightmare they were trying to prevent. I am sure there are a few opportunists within the movement who will think like that -- there are a few in every organisation -- but in my extensive experience environmentalists tend much more towards idealism than cynicism, as should be obvious if you think about it.

No matter what you think of it, certainly you can't blame them for taking advantage of the opportunity to promote their agenda. It is what any group of any stripe would do in such a situation.

Whoever is celebrating is out of their minds. Just like enronites saying Burn Baby Burn. Now if you mean that they are going to say "I told you so", sure - hopefully not now. There will be time for that later.
