Personally, I like the adage that you can never be too rich or too thin.

To that I add the mph twist:

If you think taxes aren't high enough and you get to keep too much of your own money, then voluntarily pay the IRS what you want to contribute.

If you are in Congress or the Senate and have personal wealth or a wealthy spouse, reject your salary and pay your own expenses. Let your emoluments revert to the tax coffers to do all the good you claim is important.

But, whatever you do, don't collect more than $5 million, give a relatively paltry amount in charitable contributions, and then lecture others on how much they are entitled to have or earn.
