I think some of the opposition to the national ID card, involves the thought (however likely or unlikely such a thing might be in reality) that you would be required to have one, or maybe even to carry one.

I was under the impression that most of the objection was that it would make it harder if not impossible to get off the grid and hide from the big, bad feds who are coming to take our guns away or some such. OTOH, it's getting harder and harder to do that now anyway to the point where it might be moot.

I've never opposed a national ID. I always thought it make sense to know for certain who was who. While I object to the notion of having to carry it lest I be caught without it, I don't mind having a unique ID.
