(Lake Stevens Police Department) By HEATHER BOSCH & TIM HAECK KIRO Radio A Pierce County sheriff's spokesman says several armed men burst into an Edgewood-area home Wednesday night under the pretext of buying a ring and fatally shot a 43-year-old man. "The wife was tied up and the 14-year-old was struck with a weapon," said spokesman Ed Troyer. He said the teen was taken to a hospital. Troyer says the men "flashed cash" at the door of the home at 106th Avenue Court East and told the occupants they were there in response to an ad on Craigslist about an expensive ring for sale. The homeowner is identified as James Sanders. The Pierce County sheriff's office says Sanders might have been shot defending his son. The Sheriff's office said the attackers were armed with guns and carrying zip-ties. Early Thursday morning, detectives found some valuables taken from the home that were dumped alongside a highway ramp. Police in Lake Stevens are searching to find a connection between the Edgewood incident and a similar incident from Sunday night. Police say on April 25th in Lake Stevens two men responded to a Craigslist ad at a home where they brandished firearms, tied up the family and stole several items including a flat-panel television, jewelry, and a large amount of Iraq currency. Police in Lake Stevens say they have not yet connected to the two cases, however they are working closely with the Pierce County Sheriff's office. Lake Stevens Police Chief Randy Celeri said there is a good chance the two cases are connected. One of the suspects is described as an African-American male between 18-24 years-old, 5'6" tall and weighing 160- pounds with a thin build and a goatee. The other is described as mixed-race male between 18-24 years-old, 5'10" tall and weighing 170 pounds with a thin build and a neck tattoo. mynw.com
