The purpose of this legislation is to force PUBLIC DISCLOSURE of CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS and SPENDING ON CAMPAIGN-PROMOTING ADVERTISING. It would apply to all corporations (for-profit corps. or non-profit) and all unions. They would be required to seek the formal permission (of their members or their shareholders) for spending the company's or the union's money on promoting candidates in elections, and they would be required to publicly stand behind the ad --- no more hiding their involvement behind some made-up name like "Mom's for Apple Pie" which is designed to keep the public from knowing where the money is coming from.
