So with the massive intervention by the US Navy, this is another proof in the pudding that our military is one way we massively subsidize the oil industry?

What we need to do as tax payers is force our military to bill the oil companies whenever our military is used to clean up their mess or provide security for their oil supplies. That would ensure that oil is priced at true market prices instead of these heavily subsidized prices that don't account for all the myriad ways our military is used to shore up their profits.

You missed the mostly word. Yes, "offshore spills are MOSTLY small and of little consequence". Mostly doesn't mean ALL.

Whether this one is remains to be seen.
