koan, I found this interesting situation arising in Australian education. I believe we have a similar situation here is the US. In order to improve education here, we need to first remove it the shackles of unions since the primary goal of unions is to perpetuate their hold on power. I know of no union leader to voluntarily give up their leadership position after the attainment of a set goal.

As we can see in China and India where "the kingpin of a successful education is the direct bond and relationship between the parent, teacher and the student. The teacher disseminates the broad knowledge, the parent individualizes it and the student assimilates it. We do not need unions and Administrators and worst of all we do not need all those psychologists and educational experts. We certainly do need the Govt. to provide the funds to increase teacher salaries and to encourage those industry professionals to dedicate the last five years of their professional lives to teach and "hand off" their expertise to the next generation.

The technology to organise data online means the days of governments never being held to account are over. This raises a question for the new luddites who lead the AEU as they rail against My School, ban the NAPLAN tests and attack us for informing parents. What is it about objective information that they fear?
