Yeah... that's the 'Big Fear' technique that they use to resist taking this power out of the central government's hands. They conflate one thing with totally different things, and try to sell the proposition that "all drugs are the same". (I'm fairly sure that the American people are a heck of a lot smarter then that though.) Re: "Prohibition never works and the prohibition of alcohol at the hands of the temperence movement/MADD proves prohibitionists wrong. I don't smoke weed but the health effects of weed are nothing compared to the 100 plus fatal disorders attributed to alcohol use." All true. And, one other thing I'd suggest: having laws that are WIDELY IGNORED and / or DISPARAGED promotes cynicism towards all authority figures in our society, and promotes corruption among officials and in the general population... and, of course, feeds the ranks of the criminal underground, with potentially very long-lasting ill effects for society.
