Call Ken Starr, Dave! He's still around.

"Obama-haters, meanwhile, are purportedly offering $1 million-plus for anybody in the know to spill the beans. "

Myself, I don't CARE how much strange Obama gets - I hope it keeps him happy! I'm sure most of America agrees with ME.

If true, Obama may have done this on purpose, to provoke you clowns into launching a Clinton-like witchhunt.

Let's see........there were 5 people involved but it took the National Enquirer two years to get confirmation of the details. This should be interesting.

Obama, Vera Baker: National Enquirer Publishes Presidential Cheating Scandal

Posted on April 30th, 2010 by mondoreb in Breaking News, North American News, Presidential News

In a story that the National Enquirer has been working on since 2008, the tabloid announced on its website that President Barack Obama spent the night with former fundraiser, Vera Baker in a DC hotel. The Enquirer has been trying to obtain confirmation of the details of the story it started looking into since 2008. Those details have apparently been confirmed.

National Enquirer: Obama cheats on Michelle

From the National Enquirer: “PRESIDENT OBAMA has been caught in a shocking cheating scandal after being caught in a Washington, DC Hotel with a former campaign aide, sources say.”

This is news for 2 reasons.

1. If true it is a shocker.

2. If it is false, the National Enquirer will have much explaining to do.

(UPDATE: Apparently the Globe forced the National Enquirer to go ahead with its story. Hence the graphic at the top. Back to the original post.)

Hey, remember that soccer game that wasn’t a soccer game on April 10?

Was it?

Nyah.

By the way, the weekly tabloid named the woman as Vera Baker.

Oh and the National Enquirer reported: “And now, a hush-hush security video that shows everything could topple both Obama’s presidency and marriage to Michelle!”

I doubt there is a tape. He would not be that stupid. right now, I am betting against this being true.

By the way, if the name Vera Baker sounds familiar, it should. Her Wikipedia entry:

Vera Baker is a former political fundraiser. With Muthoni Wambu, she founded Baker Wambu & Associates in 2000. According to The Politico, Baker’s organization became a top fundraising firm for the Congressional Black Caucus. [1] Baker was the Finance Director for Barack Obama’s 2004 Illinois Senate campaign and was identified by The American Prospect as one of the “rare” African-American major fundraisers. She also served as the Deputy Political Director at the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.

Baker was born and raised in San Francisco. She received duel Bachelor degrees in political, legal and economic analysis and African American studies from Mills College. She also worked toward a Masters of Art in political science from Howard University and a Masters of Art in African American studies.

After leaving political fundraising, Baker worked for Alta Capital Group, a municipal bond broker-dealer. She then launched Cape Caribbean, LLC, with offices in Fort de France, Martinique and Miami, Florida.

Well, the New York Times told me if I voted for John McCain, we’d have a president who makes it with lobbyists, and they were…

UPDATE: Mondo reported at DBKP: “Swiss newspaper Le Matin is reviving old claims that President Barack Obama had an extramarital affair in 2004 with Vera Baker, a young woman who worked on his campaign team when he was running for Illinois Senator… There are also claims that Michelle Obama found out about the affair and had Baker shipped off to Martinique.”

I am thinking such a scandal might help him.

Meanwhile, I found a Google translation of the Le Matin story. It said, in part: “The U.S. president is the subject of allegations concerning an alleged infidelity. He allegedly had an affair with a young woman in 2004. But the article feels strongly political maneuver… Beautiful, young, sporty and powerful. Normal so that raises Obama’s desire. And obviously not just those of his admirers, but also those of observers and political opponents. Who fantasize as much about the most important man in the world.”

UPDATE II: My latest update is here.

Obama rumor surfaced in 2008

The National Enquirer reported overnight: “Reports out of Washington, DC: PRESIDENT OBAMA has been caught in a shocking cheating scandal after being caught in a Washington, DC Hotel with a former campaign aide. And now, a hush-hush security video that shows everything could topple both Obama’s presidency and marriage to Michelle!”

But this is old news to readers of the London Daily Mail, which reported on October 11, 2008: “Barack Obama is the target of a shadowy smear campaign designed to derail his bid for the US Presidency by falsely claiming he had a close friendship with an attractive African-American female employee. The whispers focus on a young woman who in 2004 was hired to work on his team for his bid to become a senator.”

The newspaper, which did not name the woman, contacted her and she denied it; she said she moved to the Caribbean after the 2004 Senate campaign to live with her lover.

The newspaper said the rumor surfaced before the Democratic National Convention. The newspaper reported: “The woman, now 33, vigorously denies the vicious and unsubstantiated gossip. And some Washington insiders suggested that she was the victim of an 11th-hour attempt to smear Obama by die-hard Hillary supporters.”

There was gossip in the primary campaign about Hillary too, which was published in a back-handed way by the Times of London.

The London Daily Mail, however, did not name the woman it interview so she might not be fund-raiser Vera Baker, who is named in the National Enquirer story.

True or false, this is news. If false (my bet) the National Enquirer is in trouble. It made powerful enemies on the John Edwards exclusive. I hope for their own sake, Republicans say not a word about it — especially if it is true.

My reaction is similar to Lucianne Goldberg’s: The news has been so grim lately, let’s start the weekend with something semi-racy, demi-sleazy, maybe true.

National Enquirer Retracts Claims of Obama Affair Video, Already

The Enquirer decided to spend the good will it earned from breaking an actual story — the John Edwards affair — on an incredibly shabby tale about an alleged Obama affair captured on video. They've already retracted the video part.

Just hours after they 'broke' it the, Enquirer are now saying there is no video, according to Mediaite.
So all they have left, essentially, is the testimony of a limo driver. Who didn't see anything, really. In a way, it's nice that we're back to business as usual.
