.....and takes everyones eye off the real problem of not enough affordable eduction.

I believe that the foundation of a well educated person is laid in the schools. The teachers here in general are not qualified to teach or else you would not have a teacher with a history major teaching math etc. etc.

The teachers union can prevent this from happening by working with the Administration to lay strict requirements for this not to happen. But they do not get involved. And what is worse is that the teachers have to pay these unions to meddle in their affairs!!!

We have accomplished folks from the industry willing to donate their final years of their professional lives to teaching in the high schools. But the unions, who feel that their membership would be threatened if that happens, have worked to establish rules that require such folks to go back to teaching school full time to get their "teaching credentials." Excuse me!! Say what Mr. Union President. You want to perpetuate mediocrity at the expense of students' future??? shocking, isn't it

The fact is that the past two decades has produced children that cannot read or write, do math, have no idea of civics and are ignorant about geography, let alone physics and chemistry. It is my overseas education that was instrumental in my getting the nod from US employers over those of US high school educated folks. Based on that experience, I will continue to maintain that having teachers' unions in school is bogus, is a fraud and a conspiracy to keep this nation suppressed. Off course the Govt. which is run by capitalists is also to blame because of not allocating sufficient funds to attract the best to the teaching profession.
