You cannot "harvest from Euroland" like that. Germany's economy is totally integrated with Benelux, which is very close to UK, and together, these countries form the core of European economy. Strong small countries like Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark do a huge amount of trade via these countries, but the Euro is not the currency in UK, Denmark, Norway or Sweden - while the Euro is used in many weak countries, like Greece.

I believe that north-west Europe's strength is the skilled labor, good infrastructure and diversity. The weakness is the lack of ability to scale. The scaling part has not been properly addressed, yet, but I believe that it will be improved a lot in the future. Meanwhile, export focus is on countries that grow, as always.
