I had been thinking of them. I think the workers there are being treated terribly... because the govt can get away with it. The death toll of workers there from accidents, and from the bad conditions that lead to early deaths not only of the workers but those in the area is terrible. I'd like to see the govt care enough to put measures in place to change that, or the workers to have enough of a voice to force it to happen.

Even here, workers still tend to die young of illnesses related to their work, and also people in the area. More still can and should be done to change that. It is true that miners tend to be proud of the work they do, and proud what it contributes to the country in terms of our lights being on, as workers in China are helping China's advance in the world, and the advancement of people having power needed, but they are suffering greatly to do that.

As Rat points out in terms of complicity - right now I have my light on and my computer on. and a ceiling fan on (no a/c). Likely powered by coal where I am. So as a people we need to care about the people who mine and the communities where the mines are. There's something insisdious about enjoying the goodies but neglecting the people who make them possible.
