DYI According to the survivor's audio report, they were moving from drilling to production, and had cemented the casing and flushed the mud out with seawater. (pardon my lack of terminology, I'm only an armchair observer) So the DH project was at its most absolutely vulnerable stage when this blowout occurred. [new] ROCKMAN on May 2, 2010 - 11:02am Actually DYI just the opposite. When first drilling into the formation is the greatest risk. Then it's risky when you're running and cementing the casing. They were in the process of temporarily abandoning the well. The well should have been in it's safest mode. They were in the process of removing the drilling mud from the riser; the very next step would have been REMOVING THE BOP. How safe must you believe the situation to be to do that? That’s the bizarre aspect: I’ve never heard of a blow out occurring at this point. Needless to say something in the down hole plumbing failed.

BP's solely responsible for this Gulf oil spill catastrophe...they have been given the chance to clean up their mess, and they can't do it on their own. So it now comes down to the federal government to step in. Just think, teabaggers, if you had smaller gov't with a hand's off approach, they wouldn't be able to do anything here...they would leave it to BP, and BP would just continue to allow the damage to continue. Careful what you wish for...
