p/s - I failed to mention the potential hazards faced by deep-water energy platform blowout preventers from errant and inquisitive forms of sea life. Note in the first video clip below (from RoughNeckCity.com) how precariously close the critter comes to severing, or jarring loose the connectors of, a number of 'yellow' cables - often the color to signal the presence of fiber optic connections. Also note the marlin's persistence and outright refusal to become liberated from the metal cage-like structure during attempts from a ROV-operated hand to free it:
