Real Time with high quality image transfers I also believe will be HUGE and not just in CadCam!!! I've seen what ultra SCSI and fire wire can do. I can't say for a fact that FC is the quintissential solution for this but we have can start eliminating ones that don't fit the bill and FC is still right there. I've worked on web sights and networks that used real time video somewhat staggered that also included throwing up still images, audio,written commentary and everything but the kitchen sink.The degradation of the images are acceptable now because it is all so new and the pipe is not yet wide enough to get that type of quality.As the internet/intranets grows so will the technologies that offer solutions for this.I've yet to see an FC switch, hub or adapter in these places but have worked with ones using hubs, routers , adapters, switches and Rings Again I have no background in anything involved in putting networks together and can only comment on the technologies in anecdotal form. It will be interesting to see what Cisco comes up with in FC as they are a monster in end to end global network solutions .Right now all they have is Granite and it would be great to hear what they have done with them and how they see FC in the mix.
