Another "here's what happens" story. Might interest you, cuz they start getting into the specs of the pipes and such.

According to Vetco paperwork that I've seen, the Class H riser sections have a 3.5 million pound
load-carrying capacity. That's the equivalent weight of about four fully fueled
Boeing 747s. These risers are super strong.

I think the fishing closure is probably in order to protect species that are going to be hit hard by the spill ... we did the same thing in Florida after the cold killed all the snook.
