Oh, please. Our debt is bigger, but we have almost 30 times the population, about 40 times the GDP, and a much more efficient tax collection mechanism than a "how many swimming pools you got" mail-in questionnaire. And we have not had a taste of austerity in decades.
Yes, it will be a bigger bang when the US defaults, but Greece and many others will go first, by a wide margin.
