Someone I know who lives in our neighborhood was laid off on March 31 when Toyota's NUMMI plant in the SF Bay area shut down. He got a job offer at the GM plant in Michigan which they are reopening. He joins on May 15 and hence will be without a paycheck for 6 weeks after his layoff on march 30th. He is taking off for Michigan and will return to move his wife and kids during the summer school break in June. We neighbors had a send off for him this weekend. We are moving ahead and the flag wrappers, gun totting folks in search of a birth certificate hopefully will now go and seek a job and try to become productive members of our society.
