hope for the best and plan for the worst. as to this:

"Is anyone in the administration "planning" for the big one in San Francisco?"

I think FEMA is in shape again now. I was in SF in '89. It was bad, and could have been much worse. that is a FEMA job. But such things start on a local level and build up from there.

I would have thought it rediculous for the Pres to fly in. When the Marina was on fire, well, duh, that was a job for the fire dept. who did a fine job of it. and if we need extra people, as we do down here in the south at times when a storm rips lines down, the power companies work together to bring in crews from other places.

The Red Cross stepped up in SF and housed people and fed them.

what is this unpresidented event BP is talking about? 11 people died when the rig blew. no one else is going to die. and frankly, i don't think this writer gives a fak about some crackers on the coast of Louisiana, the story just works for them. if they gave a fak, they'd be there. and they'd stay there. and they might learn some french. and maybe a lil voodoo. but I doubt it. they mostly, and they are the white liberal northern writers, do not give a fak about the gulf coast nor the people there. if the writer does care, prove it by going there. and learn some french. and how to dance proper.
