This is "going around" right now -- those on the Left have, for some reason, decided they have to bolster the cost of oil. Makes a "better" argument.

It is a gimmick that worked with the Iraq War, which Joseph Stiglitz wrote about in his bestseller, "The Three Trillion Dollar War". And he crammed every cost imaginable into the Iraq War to come up with $3 Trillion.

They'll be writing about "$500 a Barrel Oil" before long, and someone will get a Pulitzer for it.

Maybe we should add the cost of the Defense budget to the cost of internet access. The internet is an offshoot of DARPA, after all.

And add the cost of the space program to each computer, since integrated circuits began as a means of shrinking electronics during the space race.

I know it's hard to believe and so you call it insane. However, the reality is that if we didn't need to go abroad for oil, then we wouldn't give two shits about the Middle East and we would have never fought Gulf War I or Gulf War II. This last war has already cost us $1 trillion and counting.

The fact that you refuse to acknowledge the simple facts are just a symptom of exactly how successful our government and the oil companies are at hiding the fact that the main purpose of our military nowadays is to secure our oil supplies.

If you don't believe that is true, then you would have no problem signing on to a US law that bans our military from securing our oil supplies. Let the oil companies pay the cost for their own security. God knows they are more solvent than the US government.

Everyone, including the oil companies and Wall Street, needs to stop looking for a handout from the US Taxpayer.
