Elmer, RE: if you are saying that Intel plans to use the Alpha Bus protocal for Merced, may I ask for a source for this claim? 1. Why would Intel advertise that, as a result of DEC settlement, they now have rights to this bus, if they don't intend to use it? Perhaps they'll only use it for Unix boxes built using the Merced. 2. Its a better bus because of some kind of look-ahead logic to allow addresses to be generated locally at the memory, or something to that effect. Petz
