Bottom line is that no one knows what's going to happen.

While it's important to understand what the worse case probability, I suspect some are seeking their 15 minutes of fame by suggesting that the worse case is inevitable when highly improbable is more accurate. BP has good engineers working to cap the well and the history of oil disasters suggests that they will be successful. Remember the hundreds of Kuwaiti oil fires that experts said would take years to extinguish? All were out in four months.

"I don't think they're going to be able to put the leak out until the reservoir depletes. It's just too technically challenging."
