That's correct.

And that's what makes "the right" a bunch of scumbags on this issue. (Notice that since unlike you I have no political agenda, I can admit that)

The thing is, you don't solve the problem by doing nothing at all because you can't get everything you want right now.

Illegal immigrants are by definition breaking the law. That's also a law enforcement issue. So the idea is to aggressively enforce the law by giving the police the power to do so (but without abuse of civil liberties and laws) and continue pressing for laws that make hiring illegals a felon.
