And those that produce more stuff pay more VAT. Some fat lazy ass in DC for example who is on welfare and food stamps pays no VAT, unless there is a VAT on intestinal gas, excrement, urine and them producing laughter at the rest of us for paying for them!

Re: "I just told you that everyone buys the same things for consumption,"

A) No... I don't believe that you did tell me that, (at least not in those words)... and,

B) No they don't. People DO NOT all buy the exact same things for consumption! (When was the last time you saw the checkout lady at Walmart buy a yacht? <GGG>)

Re: "... it makes no difference whether one is poor or not... that's just illogical... in fact, wealthy people buy more things because they have the money to buy them..."

Of COURSE there are differences, and of COURSE 'wealthy people buy more things because they have more money to buy them with'.

But wealthy people *ALSO* have a greater portion of their incomes left over after consumption is taken care of to put into INVESTMENTS.

Which is exactly what I said earlier. (And a widely-known truism, well supported by data, disputed by no one.)

Which is WHY Consumption Taxes (such as the VAT...) disproportionately affect lower and middle classes vs. the rich.

(Whereas INCOME TAXES --- and or taxes on investment income and capital gains --- disproportionately affect the wealthy vs. lower and middle classes.)
