I believe the GOM will recover from whatever environmental damage is done. I just hope as little harm as possible is done to people's lives and livelihoods in the coming months.

I know a guy who had a fish processing plant in Valdez, AK. Exxon appropriated his dock and used it as the main staging area for its clean-up operations. The guy's business was devastated. 21 years later, he's still litigating with Exxon. Many of these small fishermen in the Gulf of Mexico are going to be done in by this spill.
